Frequently Asked Questions
You may or may not have been wedding dress shopping before but I wanted to put together this guide which answers a lot of questions. If there’s something else I haven’t mentioned, please feel free to get in touch.
- How soon should I start looking for my dress?
If ordering a new dress, the sooner you order the better. Ideally you need to allow 6-9 months to cover the whole process from ordering to alterations, for a stress free enjoyable bridal experience. Orders can be rushed through at an additional cost.
If you are choosing an off the peg dress then at least 4-6 months in case any alterations have to be made. I have sold dresses with weeks to go, and whilst it’s possible, I don’t advise it as getting those last minute alterations can be stressful.
- What is the price range of your gowns?
Our gowns range from £800-£2,200 This does not include the cost of alterations.
- Do I need to make an appointment?
I operate on an appointment only basis in order to give you my full attention so please use the contact page to book.
- How long are the appointments?
Appointments are booked for 1hr 30 minutes.
Second or collection appointments last 45 minutes.
Fittings with a seamstress are arranged independently.
- What should I wear for the appointment?
A good fitting strapless nude bra would be perfect if you have one, although most of our wedding dresses have built in bust cups and there is no need for a bra.
Definitely wear nude seam free underwear, your favourite shoes, as high as you think you will wear on your wedding day.
- Who should accompany me to the appointment?
I recommend a maximum of two other people to bring to your appointment. Too many people with conflicting ideas often leads to an unhappy bride so choose those who’s opinion you trust.
- Can I photograph myself in the dresses?
Yes of course! When you find your dress, you will want to look at those pictures over and over again!
- Do you sell gowns off-the-peg?
Yes we do. We keep a great selection of gowns to accommodate last minute brides, normally in a size 8-14, but most of our samples are a size 10-12.
- How do I pay for my dress?
Payment is by Bank Transfer, Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay or Cash. Cheques are not accepted. Please remember your fob or passcode if you wish to pay by bank transfer. All sales are final.
- Will I need to pay a deposit?
If you are placing an order on a new gown, you pay 50% of the price of the dress, and the other 50% on collection. If you want to place an off the peg gown on hold, I ask for a 20% deposit. All deposits are non refundable.
- When do I collect my dress?
All our sample and pre-loved dresses can be taken away on the day. For dresses that are ordered, we will notify you once your dress has arrived. Please collect dresses within 2 weeks of them arriving in the boutique.
- Do you supply a dress cover?
Yes I supply a breathable full length bridal dress bag.
- What if I change my mind on an ordered dress?
Sadly as the new collection has been made bespoke for you, the dresses are non-refundable. Please be aware that we are not able to offer refunds or exchanges and that all sales are therefore final.
- I’ve fallen in love with a dress from the collection, but it isn’t in your Boutique, can I still order it?
We offer a loan program with Rosa Clara, Alma Novia, Adriana Alier & Catherine Deane. If you have a particular gown in mind that you would like to try on, simply send us an email and we will confirm if your gown is available. All loans require a £65 deposit, which is redeemable against the purchase should you want to buy it, but the deposit is non-refundable.
- What size can I order dresses in?
Rembo, Marylise & Rosa Clara are available to order in a size 6 to a size 32. Catherine Deane are available in size 4 to size 18 and in the Curve Collection from Size 20 to Size 30. When you decide on ‘the one’, we will take your measurements straight away and send them off to the designers who use this information to make your dress custom to those measurements. OR the gown will be ordered according to a measurements chart in your nearest size.
- How long does the seamstress take to fit my dress?
I strongly suggest you book your seamstress in as soon as you have placed your order or purchased your sample/preloved dress. I will supply you with a list of recommended seamstresses but brides are under no obligation to use any of our recommended seamstresses. It is very important you book in with them directly, to secure your place in their diary.
- How much does the seamstress charge?
Please take into account any alterations that may be required as it will cost extra depending on the style and the amount of work required. Please bear this in mind when setting a budget for your dress.
